Chanting for Abundance
Chanting for abundance helps me to set my intention to create abundance in my life. Actually it does create abundance in my life simply because that is where my attention goes. The feeling of abundance comes because that is what I am focusing on.
Chanting for abundance is chanting ~ singing a mantra over and over. Usually 108 times. A mantra can be a sound, a syllable, a word, or group of words that are considered capable of "creating transformation". Mantras can be and usually are Sanskrit. I also use my own simple words for my mantras.
There are times when I don't feel abundance and I do feel that the world and circumstances are against me. When I go to this place, chanting helps me to re-center and know the Truth. This is when I chant "All is well" or "There is nothing and no one against me". Try it! It works for me every time!
Chanting is Ancient Wisdom
Chanting is a very ancient method of setting an intention for something that a person desires, in this case, chanting for abundance.
The sacred sounds or chanting of Sanskrit Mantras provide us with the power to shift out of our everyday selves or from the ordinary into our higher selves. It has the ability to know the Truth of who we really are. You could call it getting to our higher level of consciousness.
How to Chant
How to get started chanting for abundance? The first step is the desire and belief that this is something that you want to committ to. The rest is easy!
1.
The first thing you want to do is choose your Mantra. If you want to use a Sanskrit Mantra you want to call in Lakshmi-The Goddess of Abundance. The mantra is:
Om Shrim Maha Lakshmiyei Swaha (pronounced: ohm shreem maha-lak-shmee-yay swa-ha).
It means:
Chants almost always begin with OM. The mantra "OM" is the name of God, the vibration of the Supreme.
SHRIM is the seed sound for the principle of abundance. Repetition of the SHRIM mantra gives you the ability to attract and maintain abundance.
MAHA means "great," in both quantity and quality. It is giving the chant a little extra kick! When you speak of the quality of abundance here, it is in harmony with divine law.
LAKSHMI in Sanskrit it means the energy of abundance. The Goddess of Abundance.
SWAHA means "I testify". You could also say Namaha instead which means, "I bow" This is the release of the prayer.
This chant was crafted by ancient mystics who understood the power of vibration and intention. This is a powerful mantra for abundance and the one that I use.
You can also make up your own mantra by stringing several words together in a way that is meaningful to you.
Another one that I like to use is: Abundance flows through me like a river running through the mountains. This is a little long, but it has a lot of meaning for me.
or I live in abundance.
When choosing your words keep it in the present tense, meaning that you already have it.
2.
Your Chant
Chanting is the repetition of a word or words. You can sing the chant in a monotonous way, without inflection or you can come up with a tune or melody. It should be very simple because you will be saying this 108 times every day. This is for you, created by you and it is something that you need to feel. Remember that abundance is a feeling.
Your Practice
This is a spiritual practice which means it is something that you do every day. I think the secret to chanting for abundance is to focus and be dedicated, not because you "have to do it" but because you love the way you feel when you do it.
So try this out~
1. Chant your chosen chant 108 times everyday.
2. Do this for 40 consecutive days (if you miss a day, you need to start over)
How to Keep Track of 108
Now that you are chanting for abundance there is one more thing to know. 108 is a lot to keep track of. That is where Malas come in.
A mala is a string of 108 beads with one bead as the summit bead called a 'sumeru' and it is a tool to use to help you to chant or meditate. It does not have to be 108 beads - it can be 54 or really any number divisible by 9.
You can make your own, or you can buy one. Some of the most beautiful Malas I have seen are handmade by CamiBeads. If you are looking for something beautiful, check it out.
I have been on the beach and wanted to chant for abundance and did not have my mala with me. I simply used some rocks to help me keep track of where I was. You can use anything! What is important is that you do it.
